CHOSEN SITE
I liked the restrictions of the brief, I felt myself being more creative than usual. The appearance of my design took the form of a triangular/pyramid, through sketches and inspiration and somehow this form seemed to be very prominent and repetitive. It was great as this fitted perfectly in my chosen site, cosy under the stairs. The main scheme provided a minimal space for myself to my personal preferences. For example I like the idea of being cosy when I sleep and I don’t mind the minimal space above my head in the study area as long as I can site comfortably. I also like the idea of small peek-a boo views to the waterfront through the ‘special red bricks’. The red blocks (aka the rotatable blocks to provide openings) seemed to be the winning feature of my design. It was the whole notion of the magic brick, or tap the right bricks to enter the secret world (like in Harry Potter for example).
I had a lot of positive feedback from my presentation. My ideas were said to be clearly represented through the 3D’s and sections . Even tho there was a comment on my sketches being a bit too messy (which I was expecting), Matt said he quite like it, as it demonstrated that I was thinking.

A modern twist on a Nomadic Dwelling

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

Here are some of my initial thoughts on creating the space/structure for the Minima Project. (You can see the design I think I will be developing in the bottom right).
Just looking into ways I can utilise minimum space, while not sacrificing comfort.
* I have a few questions:
1) do we have to draw another site plan/section to locate our chose site, or are the plans mainly of our Minima design (and another way to locate our chosen site)?
2) is one of the aims to create the smallest/least liveable space? or can we be a little more flexible with space? (obviously without going too big).

Tablinum - Aynur

For this project Ive chosen the site infront of the library on the 3rd floor. I thaught it was a perfect location as it was a quieter area due to the library, close to the toilets and had a better view overlooking the 2nd floor and out to the waterfront area. There seems to be good light and air flow all the time, perfects for a study environment.
